Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative

The Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC) is a voluntary network of perinatal care providers, public health professionals and patient and community advocates working to advance equity and improve outcomes for women, families, and newborns in the State of Louisiana through continuous quality improvement.

Requirements for Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative participation in Breakthrough Series on Severe Maternal Morbidity Reduction

Breakthrough Series Collaborative participating teams are expected to:

  • Complete prework activities to prepare for the monthly calls and Learning Sessions
  • Send 3-5 representatives from the facility team to all three Learning Sessions
  • Include a senior sponsor, a day-to-day lead, and a designated data lead
  • Include a nurse member and a physician member
  • Set goals articulated in an internal facility charter and work to achieve them
  • Perform tests of changes using PDSA rapid cycle methods
  • Make well-defined measurements related to the teams’ aims at least monthly and plot the results over time in the IHI Extranet interface for the duration of the Collaborative
  • Share information with the Collaborative, including details and measurements of changes made, both during and between Learning Sessions
  • Present the teams’ experiences and results at a Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative event to celebrate success and prepare for spread of changes to practice teams beyond the Collaborative
  • Do real work, hard work, and have fun
