Upcoming Workshop for News Media on Covering Violence & Trauma: A Solutions Approach
The Bureau of Family Health and Tulane University’s Violence Prevention Institute are hosting a workshop for members of the news media on how to cover sensitive, complex topics related to trauma and injury, including domestic and intimate partner violence, child abuse and neglect, and homicide. The workshop will take place in New Orleans on Friday, April 12, 2019.
The workshop will feature local and national experts in the field. Journalists will learn innovative reporting techniques and practical strategies to reframe and improve the coverage of violence by focusing on solutions over tragedy.
Because space for this workshop is limited, registration is only open to journalists, editors, station managers, or other member of the news media. View the workshop flyer for more details, and contact Kristen Sanderson (Kristen.Sanderson@la.gov) to register.
