The latest fact sheets cover 2014-2016 data and offer a snapshot of common Maternal and Child Health indicators and statistics for each parish and region. 2016 data is also available for the state as a whole.

Indicators include the following, and all data are stratified by race:

  • Teen births
  • Delivery characteristics, including rates of Cesarean section (C-section) among low risk women
  • Birth spacing
  • Prenatal care
  • Low birth weight and preterm birth rate
  • Fetal and infant mortality
  • Child and adolescent mortality (regional and state level only)
  • Pregnancy intention, breastfeeding initiation, and infant safe sleep behaviors (state level only)

These fact sheets are designed to provide partners, providers, policy makers and other stakeholders with accurate statistics related to the health of infants, children, and mothers in Louisiana. Fact sheets with data from previous years are also available on ldh.la.gov.
