Caregiver Perinatal Depression Screening in Pediatric Clinics Pilot

In May 2022, the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC) launched the Caregiver Perinatal Depression Screening in Pediatric Clinics Pilot. The pilot uses quality improvement science to support the implementation of perinatal depression screening in pediatric settings at the 1, 2, 4, and 6-month well-child visits. Four practices were selected and aim to achieve an 85% screening rate at the identified visits, as well as, appropriate referrals when risk is identified.

The LaPQC pilot supports pediatric clinics through:

  • Facilitating collaborative learning opportunities
  • Identifying and sharing best practices
  • Providing subject-matter faculty experts
  • Offering technical assistance and support on quality improvement strategies

The pilot will conclude in July 2023 and a Perinatal Depression Screening Initiative will follow.

Participating Clinics:

  • Comunihealth Services
  • Oschner St. Anne’s
  • Our Lady of the Angels
  • Terrebone General Health
